From winter wonderlands to classic holiday movies under the stars, discover the top festive family experiences in Dubai this December

Whether it’s the weather or the vast spread of experiences, December in Dubai is always a treat. Mark your calendars with all the things to do, see, eat and create, getting in the holiday spirit.

1 . Santa’s Secret Island at Bluewaters

Santa Claus is coming to town, turning the idyllic Bluewaters into his secret island. Light installations, themed decorations and roaming entertainment will deck the island’s avenues with winter whimsy, plus magical snowfall to really set the scene from 5pm to 10pm. Moreover, kids can get creative at crafting workshops, such as card and candy making, face painting, and more. Madam Tussauds is hosting a tree-lighting ceremony on 8 December, where you can decorate a wax mould of your hand, sip on hot chocolate and tour the museum’s wax figures decked out in festive gear thanks to a one-day-only discount in which kids visit for free!

The real showstopper is the 800 drones taking over Bluewaters’ sky for the Dubai Shopping Festival. Secure a spot alfresco at one of the island’s waterfront restaurants to see Dubai’s story animated in floating lights. One show chronicles Dubai’s evolution from the past to the present, while the other takes viewers through a portal into the emirate’s unseen future.

Madame Tussauds: 8 December, 6-7pm
