Karima Green has been appointed as the Global Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by CSM Sport and Entertainment.Across an award-winning career focussed exclusively on DEI, Green has become a popular and respected thought leader and change maker. She joins CSM from SThree where, as Global Head of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & People Engagement she was a key factor in the recruitment firm winning Company of the Year at the European Diversity Awards.
This award formed part of a seminal year in Green’s career where she was selected for LinkedIn’s Talent Voice programme, shortlisted as ‘Head of Diversity of the year’ at the European Diversity Awards, recognised within the Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA) Global Power 150 Women in Staffing list, and listed as one of the top 75 DEI leaders in EMEA.
Her passion stretches well beyond the day job, with Green also establishing her own DEI professionals’ network, The BRAVE Network, a community focused on defining best practice around organisational diversity and regularly speaks at events for notable organisations such as LinkedIn, Accenture, and EY. Prior to her role at SThree, Green was Diversity Delivery Lead at Clear Channel Outdoor Global.
In this new role with the leading sport and entertainment agency, Green will develop and deliver its existing global DEI strategy. As with her previous roles, she will work closely with Senior Leaders across the business to ensure continued alignment with business goals and provide guidance and counsel to the Regional and Global DEI Councils.
Speaking of the appointment, Charlotte Macartney – Chief People Officer at CSM – commented: “We understand that increasing the diversity of our team and the inclusivity of our culture is intrinsically linked to the health of our people, clients, and business. This is why DEI is an ongoing priority, and why we are delighted to welcome Karima to what is a new and important role. After an extensive search and screening process, Karima emerged as the outstanding candidate.”
Reflecting on her new role, Green said: “The very essence of DEI work is to turn a challenge into an opportunity. It is why I have always been compelled by new ground, and why I was attracted to this role with CSM. The global nature of the business, its continued success, and its willingness to evolve, is fertile ground for change-making, and industry leading. It also happens to be in a field that I am passionate about and believe deeply in its rarefied ability to shape behaviour and inspire change on a large scale.”
Matt Vandrau – Group CEO at CSM – added: “To be an agency for the future we need to reflect and represent the next generation of fans, brands, and consumers. The creation of Karima’s role is indicative of our continued commitment to achieving this, diversifying our perspectives, creativity, and skills. In Karima we immediately saw someone who shared our desire to change lives through the unmatched power of sport and entertainment, and who was capable of making it happen.”
