The report analyzed big data sourced from Perfect Corp.’s award-winning YouCam Nails app – the popular consumer app featuring thousands of AR-powered filters that allows users to virtually try-on nail color and nail art effects in real time. The report focuses on user data sourced from top global markets including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, China, Japan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman.

The Most Popular Nail Colour Shades:

BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL REDS

Red nails, such as Cherry, Crimson and Sparkle Red were also among the most popular nail color shades observed in the data, as this classic shade continues to trend with consumers globally. These bold and confident tones emerged as top shades across all regions analyzed, with a significant trending popularity toward red shades and bright tones across the Middle East regions including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman. 

NEUTRAL NAILS

Globally and across many markets, neutral nail colours have emerged as the most popular and most-frequently tried-on shades. The data revealed a trend towards edgier neutral tones, with Black nail polish taking the top shot as the most frequently tried-on shade globally.

METALLIC MOMENTS

High shine, metallic and chrome tones such as Metallic Rose Gold, Foil Gold, and Foil Silver were also observed in the data to be among the top 10 most tried-on nail colors globally.

High shine, metallic tones trended in all key markets analyzed, with a significant preference for these shades observed in China, Mexico, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain.

The YouCam Nails app also provides users with access to thousands of creative nail art designs to try-on and experiment with virtually. The metallic trend was also reflected in nail design try-on data as nail art designs featuring gold and metallic tones were among the top 10 most frequently tried-on styles.

The Top Nail Colour Textures Globally:

Nail color textures have been undergoing a dramatic transformation in recent times, with new and innovative finishes taking the beauty world by storm.

According to the virtual try-on data, cream nail polish was the top tried-on texture across all global markets. Renowned for its excellent coverage and high shine finish, this versatile texture has captured the hearts of beauty enthusiasts worldwide.

Furthermore, the trend towards jelly nail color formats has taken hold over the past year, as this unique formula offers a translucent appearance with a striking glass-like finish. App users are drawn to the versatility and playfulness of jelly nail colors, and the ability to try them on virtually allows for effortless exploration of new shades and combinations. Jelly was the second most popular nail texture globally, followed by matte and sheer nail color formulas.
