TORY BURCH NAMED WWD WOMEN’S DESIGNER OF THE YEAR
The WWD Honors gala recognized designers, companies, and changemakers for their outstanding performance in 2024. The ceremony followed day one of WWD’s Apparel and Retail CEO Summit on October 29, themed “The Power of Resilience.” Tory and Pierre-Yves Roussel opened the summit with a fireside chat with Jim Fallon, Chief Content Officer at Fairchild Fashion Group.
Actress and comedian Chloe Fineman presented the award following a brief impersonation of Tory – a reprise of the SNL alum’s performance in a video from September 2022.
Tory Burch is the Executive Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Tory Burch LLC.
Tory grew up on a farm in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and studied art history at the University of Pennsylvania. She moved to New York in the 1990s and worked for Zoran, Harper’s Bazaar, Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, and Loewe.
Tory launched her collection in 2004 with a clear purpose: to build a global luxury lifestyle brand that would support a foundation for women.
Her aesthetic is anchored in the relaxed elegance of American sportswear, known for its craftsmanship and quality.
In 2009, Tory established the Tory Burch Foundation to provide women entrepreneurs in the United States with capital, education, and community.
